Since 1998, the Powerful Tools for Caregivers (PTC) program has supported family caregivers in the US, Canada, and South Korea, through leader trainings and classes focused on caregiver self-care education.
The pandemic has brought about many changes. Online delivery has expanded the reach of the program and there are many other ways we would like to expand and diversify PTC. It has been a quest for the PTC program to select a home that will provide the support it needs to grow for decades to come. We are thrilled to say that PTC has found its ideal home in Iowa State University (ISU)!
With ISU’s emphasis on education and ability to call on numerous capable staff in a wide variety of areas, it will provide PTC with the capacity to respond to the ever-expanding needs of caregivers. PTC headquarters and Iowa State University are committed to a smooth transition, officially to begin July 16, 2021.
We have compiled frequently asked questions based on feedback received. Review the document for clarification and send any additional questions to PTC headquarters. Kathy, Leslie, and Susan will continue to field questions and work closely with Iowa State University to meet your needs leading up to the official transition date.
It has been a privilege to see the program expand over 23 years, providing support in so many peoples’ lives —the caregivers in the classes, the Class Leaders, and the Master Trainers guiding the classes. We, too, at PTC Headquarters have been deeply touched by the profound impact of the program. We have truly all been in this together.
